This course provides students with supervised, practical experience in an acute care facility and non- acute health information department. Emphasis is placed on providing opportunities for students to relate classroom theory to the actual functions of a health information department, such as data analysis; medicolegal procedures; information retention; release of information; and the use of technology.  Students will become familiar with policies and procedures and understand the relationships other hospital departments have with the health information department.
